The last 50 pages were 4 stars but the rest was just okay. It was a fun twist and makes me want to read it again someday with that ending in mind but to those considering reading this, just know there is no sherlock or Watson. Only frequent mentions. This story really only works with that ending but is a bit meh getting there.

4 stars for the main story
and 1 extra for the extra story featuring Holmes and Watson :D

I love this book despite the many faults as pointed out by some reviewers. I think Anthony Horowitz correctly grasps the characters of Holmes and Watson, though I may not say the same for Inspector Jones, and certainly not Moriarty. His Moriarty is not the psychopath we are familiar with, but a softer version for him. There is a twist in the plot but it is to be expected. At a later time, I shall write a more detailed review. For now, I must say I love the book and the short story in the end - The Three Monarch is a plus and I wish he had stuck with Holmes and Watson rather than employing alternative protagonists though I can see the reasoning behind the choice. Just as Agatha Christie's with the Murder of Roger Ackroyd, such efforts can attract both admiration and criticism simultaneously and is an experiment authors must take with caution. Fortunately for me, I like the story and thus my relatively high rating, but I am sure there will be plenty of readers who will not share my view and be repelled. At any rate, I am looking forward to the next installment (if there is any), preferably with our beloved Holmes and his dear Watson.

I am a sucker for detective novels and I really like this one. Audiobook. Great story and awesome narration.

Well, this is finally done. There's nothing much to say without spoiling anything here. Seemed a bit exaggerated at times, but a nice read overall. Average rating due to reasons I don't want to spoil.

Spoiler Really? Chase? I had my suspicions but he was the fucking narrator ffs. The narrator! Also, makes no sense unless and until a third book is planned with a confrontation between Holmes and Moriarty.
