Very rare occasion where the movie is better than the book

I saw the movie when it came out. Meryl Streep was so good that I can’t visualize Miranda as anyone else. Seems the movie followed the book fairly well, but the book bored me whereas the movie was so much fun.

Since only this book in the trilogy was produced as a movie, I’m curious if the other two will read better done I won’t have a basis of comparison.

Read it because I watched the film. The film is better.

I don’t know if Lauren Weisberger did this intentionally but no one in this book is even remotely likable, everyone is vapid, self-centered, and incredibly annoying, and I don’t know if that’s what Weisberger was going for or if it was just her writing, but I can definitely say for certain that this book was written in 2003 and that the characters are living in 2003. What I can tell you, however, is that Miranda Priestley will always remain iconic.

Every joke is at the expense of another whether it's ableist, elitest, fatphobic, racist or just downright rude! I didn't find any character loveable enough to care about and the name dropping of celebrities just got tiresome.

In all honesty, just watch the movie. It's so much better.

I found the main character in general very unlikeable and the book mainly consisted of her workplace abusing her in every way  possible. There were parts I enjoyed, but for me the pacing of the book was generally off. For a long time the plot didn't seem to be going anywhere and then the climax came at the very end of the book, which left me as a reader incredibly confused. It wasn't terrible, but I don't see myself picking it up again.
