This graphic novel posed more questions than it answered which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it did leave me wanting. The illustrations are beautiful and full of whimsy, and I really enjoyed the montage style of dark and at times humorous snapshots into the lives of these tiny survivalists. However, I wanted more time in this bizarre world and especially more time with these characters. I wanted to understand their motivations and the relationships between them, the lack of context meant I couldn’t really get invested in anything that happened - the exception being the dapper mouse (that hit hard).
I do wonder if that was intentional because they weren’t really individual characters to begin with but parts of a much greater and deader whole.

Whoa, hello.

That page, where you realize what's actually happening...you know the page.

This is some weird, disturbing, messed up stuff. But it's REALLY well done. Creepy and cute all at once, and filled with real life, and fairy tale magic, and revenge, and violence. And man, if you're into revenge....that ending.

Surprising and unique and well done. It looks like something you could give to kids. Don't give it to kids.

Este cómic es una de las cosas más extrañas y desconcertantes que he leído en mucho tiempo. Es cierto que no había leído ni la sinopsis antes de empezar a leerlo, pero eso no debería ser necesario para entender una buena historia. Sin embargo, al cerrar el libro me quedé con la misma cara de tonta que al principio.

Además, la historia resultó ser mucho más explícita y violenta de lo que me esperaba, lo cual no habría sido un problema si no fuera porque no se ofrece ninguna explicación o razón para ello. Tal vez yo me perdí el gran mensaje, pero tras terminar este cómic simplemente me quedé con una colección de momentos horripilantes que se continuaban sin ton ni son. O tal vez el mensaje sea ese, que vivimos en un mundo violento sin sentido donde todo el mundo o se corrompe o muere. Sea como fuere, no la historia que estaba esperando, ni una que pudiera disfrutar.
