My first thought was I don't know what I just read. And my second thought? It truly was an allegory about the human experience. From the very beginning every single character puts themselves first, with the only exception being Aurora. But in the end she puts herself first as well. An interesting read with water colors that help to highlight the darkness of the story behind the light colors. I especially appreciate the artists use of the color red. From the characters to the details red is a color that pushes the story along and sticks out on the page.
Didn't particularly care for this book, even though I enjoyed the art style. I thought it was cruel and disturbing for the sake of trying to shock the reader, and didn't posit anything other than a reductive view on human behavior.
4.5
Loved this. Wish this was a series as I would totally read more.
Only critique I have is story relations from some certain pages to their very next pages, making it seem like you might be missing some context.
