I first saw this book in-person at Books-a-Million. I happened upon the collector's edition, which has beautiful inside cover art, two-toned painted edges, even a little silk bookmark. I saw that it was also available on Kindle Unlimited and decided to grab it. I'm a BAM member, and their membership has some nice perks. It was the largest of the books I bought so I decided to start with it. I was excited when I heard about how spicy it was, which it definitely is.

Friend, I have problems with booktok. I have problems with books that rely on poorly written sex scenes to push along an even more poorly written plot. I realized towards the end of the book that this is the compilation of a trilogy, which makes sense as the farther into the book we got, the more plot we got as well. The first 40% of the book is nothing but sex, and not even good sex. One character goes from being a virgin to having anal sex with some lube and a prayer. No ma'am, that is not how the human sphincter works.

I don't know. Am I too old for this? I don't find this to be "dark romance," I find it to be published fanfiction. There was so much sex that it lost its spark. It isn't sexy if it's happening literally every other paragraph! We have literally two to three pages worth of sex, with one or two paragraphs of dialogue to continue the plot, then right back to the same sex they just had. It isn’t even new or exciting stuff. If I had to read about her “folds” one more time… ugh.

Blah. Blaaaahhhh. The time I wasted on this book... I should've just DNF'd.

I'm ready for people to disagree and that's okay!

I didn't hate it, didn't absolutely love it, but it was semi likeable, there were good moments and kinda boring and repetitive moments too.

My goodness.

I thought I’ve read spicy books with no plot but this kind of takes the cake. The pacing of this book was so silly, which I guess makes sense know that it was originally three separate books.

But still I just really struggled to find myself attached to any characters, especially Mina. She honestly had no chance to even develops a personality, she was merely a empty narrator.

The only character I really appreciated and liked was Wolf. He was the most interesting (despite the ridiculous wolf puns throughout). He was a bit unhinged and odd but definitely the most interesting character.

Idk the plot was a bit ridiculous but it also was so underdeveloped and anticlimactic. Mina did pretty much nothing in this book. She made no decisions, had no opinions, no talents. The only thing she really ever wanted to do is have sex with one or all of the men. Yet, even when she said she loved them it felt so empty.

I think this book really solidified that while I do love enjoy fantasy romance, I do not enjoy fantasy erotica. The lack of romance in this “fantasy romance” really does place it in a whole different category.

Anyway, I did read it fairly quickly and was entertained by the spice and amused by pretty much everything else.
