evreardon's review against another edition
- Strong character development? No
- Loveable characters? No
- Diverse cast of characters? No
- Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated
Well. You’re definitely not reading this for the plot.
There’s a stupid amount of sex in this book and like, I get it. That’s the point. But I do like a bit of good plot with my sex scenes. But the story was pretty dumb which made it completely superfluous.
It’s clear the sex scenes are where the author shines. Any other conversation or “inner thoughts” are cringey.
The characters aren’t well written. I don’t particularly like any of them and I can barely tell the leading men apart except one is standoffish & reluctant, one is caring, and one is rakish. Oh, and they have different powers. But everything else about them is the same.
This may have some pretty steamy (and sometimes uncomfortable because of all the blood) scenes, but ultimately, it wasn’t worth the read. Far too much unnecessary “plot” and blood.
