I decided this week to get reading all the St Mirren related books that have been sitting on my shelf and this one contained good things and a few not so good things.

Lets start with the negative. Just a few pages into the book, there is a glaring error where the author is comparing the Millennium Champions side of 2000, to the recent league winning side. She says that the 2000 side clinched the title on the last day by beating Raith Rovers 3-0 at Love Street. This is NOT correct. The match against Raith Rovers was the last HOME game of the season. The final game of the season was an away trip to Inverness Caley. I should know as I was there. It was a huge party atmosphere and a great, if bloody cold day out. So, with such a glaring error here, I wonder how many mistakes were made in the rest of the book with statistics and scorers etc? I can't comment as I don't remember every detail but I fear the worst. There was also no proofreading of the material as there were spelling mistakes, bad formatting and missing words throughhout the text. It makes the book look unprofessional and badly rushed.

On the plus ide, it is actually a good read. I like the fact that there are plenty of funny stories from the dressing room to give you an idea of what happened during the season off the park. Reading match reports is fine but the fun bits really make the book much more entertaining.Poor Charlie Adam took some amount of abuse! Hopefully he will have fond memories of it all now!

Good read for St Mirren fans!
