It's a shame Riley Sager is such a one-trick pony because his writing style is great. But it seems like he's stuck on the same overarching plotline. One or both parents of a 20-something girl are dead, she finds herself in a life-or-death situation, and the would-be killer is never who you're led to believe it will be. I have read 3 of his books and can confidently say I won't pick up any more, once you've read one, you've pretty much read them all.

I skimmed the second half of this book because by then I just didn't care, but I didn't to DNF another book. Plot? See above. Characters? Stupid, unlikeable, and boring, again see above. I didn't enjoy this book and I wouldn't recommend it.

Definitely not my favorite Riley Sager book. I was not a fan of Charlie from the beginning which made it hard to get through the book. Her decisions and the “movies” in her mind made me roll my eyes. The ending was good, but took too long to get there. I found most of the twists to be pretty obvious, except for one which did surprise me.

How many times did the author use the word “movie” in this novel? My god it was like her entire personality this cinephile trait of her’s. The plot was predictable and the suspense was not suspense-ing like I know Riley can usually do and bring. Not his best.

I thought this was a really fun read. It kept me on my toes and I was pretty creeped out at times. I thought I called the twist at the end but it went further and I enjoyed it.

I predicted how this book was going to end. Which usually would be a bad thing. But the twists and turns it takes you on before you get to the end were wild. It had me doubting what I originally thought. There were parts of the book that had my mouth hanging open for minutes as the story unfolded.
This was my first Riley Sager book, and it definitely won’t be my last!
