 Uff. Hart zu lesen, zu Recht. Der Fall hat mich erschüttert, als ich davon gelesen habe. Als immer mehr neue Einzelheiten herauskamen, hat sich diese Erschütterung verdichtet. Man denkt, schlimmer geht es nicht und dann wurde es noch schlimmer. Ich bin Caroline Darian unglaublich dankbar, dass sie die Kraft hatte, das aufzuschreiben und zu veröffentlichen. Diese Geschichten sind nicht wenig und müssen öffentlich erzählt werden. So viel Mut, so viel Offenheit. Da muss man oft schlucken. Oft hat auch mich die Wut gepackt, wie Darian selbst, und ich wollte am liebsten in ein Kissen schreien.

Ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass in ein paar Jahren ein zweites Buch herauskommt über den Prozess und die Folgen, auch medial und international. Das Buch gelesen zu haben und dann an die Bilder und Videos zu denken, wie mutig und stark Gisele Pelicot während des Prozesses war, überwältigt mich. Ich bin so stolz auf Gisele Pelicot, Caroline Darian und ihre restlichen Liebenden.

This book made me uncomfortable in a way I wasn’t expecting. Writing-wise, it needs further editing and tlc, with certain emotions being written on the page but not translated in the impact. I cannot stress that I really regret ordering online and not flicking through this in the shop, as I probably wouldn’t have picked it up if I’d have known it was written in diary format. 

Her inclusion of her son made me personally uncomfortable. So many details offered out into the world by his mother, just didn’t sit right with me. 

In spite of this, of course the book was powerful and informative. A very eye opening (if not singular) view of a horrible experience that left a family broken. But I’m grateful to have read it, to learn more about this horrific form of abuse and hopefully have the skills to spot it amongst friends if I unfortunately should need to in the future.
