It had that usual problem that I have with time travel novels where once it tries to explain how the time travel works it just gets boring and needlessly complex.

I like how this book is intricate, but also full of action. This story takes place in an alternate world with weirdly different technology and cultural quirks that all hang together. And there’s a time machine. And aliens. And, well, lots of things happen that made me want to keep reading. I know that’s vague, but I don’t want to give too much away!
