I received this book from goodreads in exchange for an honest review.

Billie follows a young women, named Billie and her bestfriend Franck. When the story begins, they have just been trapped in a gorge in the Cevennes Mountain in Paris. When her friend is no longer responding to her, she begins to tell the stars the story of how she and Franck met and how they escaped their troubled childhoods.

I really did not like this book... The only redeeming factor for me was the ending, even though it seemed a bit silly I enjoyed it none the less. I think it just wasn't my style of book, but I'm sure a lot of other people would really enjoy this book. For me though, it was too slow paced and not exciting enough.

Novella. French. Monologue.

Story: The story opens with Billie (f) and Francky (m) trapped at the bottom of a gorge. While hiking, they've fallen and now Francky is badly injured. As he drops into a coma, Billie recalls memories of their past, while they wait to be rescued.

Language: This book is translated from French. It's a novella at just around 160 pages. It has no numbered chapters but their are separations between and within sections. It's told completely from the perspective of Billy. She is in her 20's and tells her story from childhood on.

Characters: Billy had a rough childhood. And a rough teenage life. She met Francky in school and the two form an interesting bond.

I started this book and was hooked in by the sudden strike of adventure and suspense. Then I got bored and stayed bored for the rest of the book. I hoped the ending would be great but instead I was presented with a horrible plot twist. Ugh.

I received this book for free as a Goodreads Firstread in exchange for an honest review.

Billie is a story about two young adults and how they escape their poor childhoods and find themselves and each other. It is told as Billie speaks to the stars about how her and Franck met and became friends, while they are lying in a gorge after having fallen.

Ultimately, the story is nothing new, but it is written beautifully. There are some awkward phrases that sometimes arise, but I would guess that has to do with translation as much as anything. I wasn't completely sold on the ending, but it wasn't completely off where I expected it to go either.

A cute story about love, life, dying and everything in between.

Je pense que c'est la première fois que je vais abandonner un livre à la moitié de ma lecture... l'histoire pourrait être intéressante mais j'ai vraiment du mal avec le langage de Billie et cela rends la lecture pas tellement plaisante... dommage...
