This was a beautiful book. I really appreciate how she never lost the plot because although her daughter is who she is, that didn't overshadow the story that was intended. This is a book about Tina from start to finish. You can't walk away from this without feeling respect and admiration for her. She is so down to earth and I love how the book really normalized her. She has the same thoughts, insecurities, struggles, goals and doubts that we all have. Her friends are like our friends and her family is like our family. I didn't know much, if anything about her and I'm glad I got to know her in this way.

The title of this book is so fitting. Ms. Tina really did take care of her whole community time and time again. I was disheartened by some of the things she experienced as a child. What happened to her at that hospital and the continued harassment of her family was completely unacceptable but not surprising. There will always be people in positions of power who abuse it.

This is Beyonce's mom's memoir. I actually liked hearing from Tina and her perspective. Maybe because I'm a mom and can relate to the mom side of things? I don't know much about Beyonce's upbringing, so it was nice to learn about all of that. I enjoyed learning about Tina's upbringing too. I listened to the audio and it was really good. Even if you are not a huge Beyonce fan, I think that you will still appreciate this memoir. I wish that it went a little bit deeper on some times in her life, but I think that there is just so much to cover.
