Not nearly so good as the original. Having Kate write in a diary and Cecelia giving testimony is a far too uneven way to tell the story. But still! Kate and Cecelia! Hooray!

This book failed to hold my attention the way the Chocolate Pot had. In part I think that's because it's really hard to write a romance once the characters are already married, bc, well, they're married. There's none of that will he-won't he tension. And in part I think that it was because the characters were all in one spot, writing in diaries rather than in letters to each other, so I had a much harder time keeping track of which character's head I was visiting. And finally, the humor in this book just didn't work as well for me. I caught glimpses of it here and there, but not consistently.

That said, in the end I liked the book in the sense that I am not currently wishing for the time I spent reading it back. Still, this book should have taken me a day or two tops to read, and it took three months.

Still fun, but it dragged a bit at times. The diary/deposition format wasn't nearly as engaging as the epistolary style of the first.

The Grand Tour has a very different feeling than Sorcery and Cecilia because the women and their husbands are traveling together rather than having the novel move forward through correspondence between the cousins.

My mother liked this one even more than the first. Probably because...

Still cute and fun. Still with the letters. Of course, nothing can be as good as the first. I enjoyed the light-heartedness and the idea that magic and wizardry can be studied just as science and math.

Oh my, how I do love these books. Funny, fantastic, one of my favourite historic periods, and two very fantastic young ladies!
