meh. I liked Ki a lot, and their interactions on the mountain were cute, there just wasn't a lot of plot I feel like.

So I'm giving this book 3 stars…
As a lover of dystopian novels I was excited to pick this up thanks to the recommendation of a few friends. However, it took a while for me to get wrapped up in the storyline… As I read the beginning of this book I felt like I was reading The Giver. And seeing how The Giver is one of my all time favorite books I wasn't very happy that someone decided to "copy" the content. Way too many similarities for my taste: the matching, assigned job duties, the rationed food, the strict rules, the need to be proper at all times, etc (I could keep going on and on). However after the first few chapters I was able to look past the similarities and enjoy the story that this author was trying to portray.
I'll say that this book was sort of like the love child of The Giver and Delirium - strict dystopian futuristic societies mixed with a forbidden love story that makes the main character have to choose between doing whats right or going against everything they know.
Once I got past all the dystopian similarities I enjoyed learning more about Ky as the book progressed but I also did love Xander. I always enjoy learning about the fantasy worlds that authors create and how similar or different they are to our current world.
This is a good and quick read, however I don't think it's one of those books I'll be picking up again in the future. I do look forward to reading the other 2 books in the series, I can't leave a series only half read!

where do I start? This book was horrible. I borrowed this book from the library because I thought, hey, that looks cool. The summery seems cool, the society thing seems a little weird but why not read it? And I did. And when I was done my face had no emotion. Why? Because I have no idea what just happened. The book made no sense what so ever. The only thing I really understood was that the grandfather died and that everyone dies when they are eighty. And then there was some pill that made you forget things. I really didn't understand that book at all.

This book was good, but not as good as good as I thought it would be. I felt like the book moved too slowly, but I loved the end. I would recommend it more for girls, because there are more romantic scenes than action scenes.
