Particular phrases are turned well, but each piece- and all pieces together- lack the melodic rhythm that appeals to me so.

The collection delves into Raz's battle with breast cancer, relearning her body in terms of what was taken and what remains. She sometimes ruminates on death and the fears that accompany disease, but more often her poems search for life, light, and peace.

Raz experiments with and manipulates sounds. In one poem she repeats m sounds so that, if read aloud, it would likely sound like a meditation. Alliteration is common as is the occasional rhyme though these occur irregularly and even within the same line. She is able to juxtapose song forms and jargon and pays as much attention to the parts of words, their insides and limbs, as she does to their wholes.
