The Imogen Grey & Adrian Miles series by Katerina Diamond is one of my favorite procedurals out there. Although I began reading from #2, I did go back and read the first one as well a few years ago. This is a series that has never disappointed me, in fact, the first book is my least favorite one. And this last entry was another winner in my opinion.

The case was pretty fascinating, and although you knew some of the players, you don’t really know what’s exactly going on until the very end. It was a complex web of lies, evil and cruelty. Of course, I absolutely loved it. Some aspects of the mystery reminded me of Charlie Donlea’s THE GIRL WHO WAS TAKEN.

I really think you should read the other books in the series before you pick up this one. Both the case and the relationship between Miles & Grey are heavily influenced by the previous novels, so you might be a bit lost. Also, I was glad that their relationship had some real development in this book. We caught a glimpse of what it could be in THE PROMISE, but we saw the full potential here.

I want to make clear that I am not a fan of romance and I do not really enjoy romantic suspense either, I always want the focus to be on the mystery and the murders. But I have to admit… I’ve grown to love Imogen and Adrian and I really feel that Katerina Diamond is an excellent writer, so she could sell me anything she wants to write.

I really enjoyed this book and I recommend this series to any crime fans out there. It’s an excellent one and you’re missing out!

Thanks to Avon UK and Netgalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for a honest review.

It pains me to say this but this book is not as good as the others in the series. It was wonderful to return to Adrian and Imogen's lives again but I feel that this book dragged a little bit in some parts. It was not as action packed or as exciting and fresh as the others.

I still do highly recommend this series and eagerly await the next book from this author. I would advise the readers to rather read the previous books before this one as it will give greater insight into the characters and how they have developed over time.

Great one, I would have preferred not to dwell too much on Imogen and Miley getting more intimate but I'm glad Parker was back and the murders were interesting, that "game" was horrifying

Another fab book by Katerina Diamond for her DS Imogen Grey/Adrian Miles series!

My favourite part about this book was the dark academia/cult-like atmosphere, which I think is perfect for this time of year. It also included a character from book 1 who I loved, which also brought with it the graphic violence which characterised the first book.

Again, there's not much to be said without spoiling all the previous books but I love how binge-able this series is. Saying that, I didn't find this book as shocking as the previous instalments and I felt it wrapped up a bit too quickly. Nevertheless, I still really enjoy this series and I like the direction it is going in.

I actually don’t know where to begin!
This was a very much awaited 5th book of the DS Imogen Grey series for me which definitely delivered and then some!!!
I don’t want to give too much away but was absolutely thrilled with a return within book.
This book is so well and cleverly written with its twists and turns that it honestly had me gripped from the first page.

The journey of this plot is very unique and is like nothing I have read before which definitely defines this series from other crime thrillers.

I love the development of the characters especially Imogen and Adrian throughout each of the books in the series but the propensity to identify with all characters is actually remarkable!

Thank you Kat for such a remarkable and memorable book 😊
