An entertaining read, with a similar fantastical blending of old world and new that made Mr. Penumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore so engaging.

Be prepared to want to snack on freshly toasted sourdough smothered with butter: it heightens the reading experience, is thematically relevant, and is also delicious.

This story was super cute. I enjoyed it a lot as it is different from the regular tropes we all read on a daily basis. At least from what I read. I thought it was fun and light!

This was a good book with subtle elements of magical realism.

… a tiny space without feedback or self-awareness - and I had named it Confidence.

This was a great read. Both about self discovery and self confidence, and how technology and our food systems intersect. What it means to change.

I loved Mr Penumbra's 24 hour bookstore, so I'm surprised I wasn't as big of a fan of this book. It was a little hard to follow the main plot, a TON of characters got introduced and only a handful of them ended up being super relevant. Also it was hard to tell the main characters motivations for anything. Some big events happened right at the end of the book that I personally would have been furious about, but the main character didn't seem to have any kind of emotional reaction to them or to much of anything else that happened in the book. It was hard to get invested in her journey because it wasn't super clear what she wanted.
