I don't know how to express my feelings about this book! I really liked it, too see the things that weren't in the movie and the start of Peeniss (lmao) and I wanted to do a good/normal review but yeah, can't so I'll be here curled up in a corner and depressing about how they left things in the end of the book ..

I haven't read a book as gripping as The Hunger Games in a long time. The characters, the beautiful writing and the action kept me gripped until the very last word. I have a very long wait now for the second book. I wish I could sleep the whole time until it comes out. More than once I exclaimed out loud at the story, cursing characters, urging others on and formulating plans in my head for the competitors and wishing they could hear me.
I'd recommend everyone in the world read this book!

I loved this triology! I definitely read them for the story and world building aspect, and not as much for the writing itself though. This book swallows you in to a dystopian society, and I had a hard time putting them away. If you have seen and liked the films, I would recommend also reading the books, since many details in the books didn't get mentioned in the films.

really enjoyed this reread. i love the pacing of this book, it makes it easy to get through. i don’t really enjoy katniss’ narration because she’s an unreliable narrator which i usually find intriguing but i find that she’s too indecisive with her opinions of other people. i hate the weak attempt at a love triangle. other than that the story, side characters, world, pacing, etc. is incredible and i think this book will become a classic in the future.

I just recently finished the Hunger Games Quadrilogy of movies (I watched them over a period of a couple of months), and decided to start reading the books. I have to say, I was surprised by The Hunger Games. I thought it was nothing but non-stop violence, but that's actually only makes up about one quarter of the movies and not all of the books.

The dystopian elements were just as stong, as were the elements of what I would call social commentary. It is an interesting take on an age when people are so "into" reality TV and online challenges they would literally watch people fight to the death for entertainment. You think we're over that as a society, that ended in Roman times? I don't think it would take much for it to start again.
Actually, its interesting that so many of the character in the Capitol and surrounding have Latin names. Coriolanus, Ceasar, Cato, Plutarch etc..

I can buy some governments using this as a means of state control as well. I don't think the characterization was the best, but even for an adult this YA story was interesting. The Mutts are terrifying. Genetically modified animals used to strike or wreak terror, or to spy on the populace. The possibility of animals with human brains or partially human brains as well. Just horrific.

Snow est détestable et c’est trop bien. J’ai beaucoup aimé, c’était encore mieux que le film !
