This book was a delight. I'v been a fan of this series for 8 years, but for some reason I overlooked this release and only got to read it now. Magnus and Alec have been my favorite characters for a long time to to have a whole book about them was heaven on earth. I couldn't stop giggling through the whole book. Their relationship, their humor and their charm are written so well and captivating. I did spot a few clumsy expressions and sentences throughout the book that kinda bothered me, just because I feel like bestseller authors could avoid these thing, but that won't downgrade the book in my eyes. All in all I can say that reading it was a real treat, I had so much fun! It's exactly what I wanted and more, which is a weird feeling. We are not really used to getzing what we want in this fandom after all. Cassie, if you hurt these precious people I'll start a riot for real after everything you put us through.

Even though you didn’t see much of them it was nice to see Clary, Simon, Jace, and Isabel again. Magnus and Alec are so cute together as always. The book was evenly paced and the epilogue was intriguing.

I wanted to read this book because I absolutely love Cassandra Clare. The infernal devices is my favourite series to date and I loved the mortal instruments series and it’s what got me into reading so of course when this book came out, I wanted to read it. I really enjoyed the first book in this series.

This novel follows High Warlock Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood as they are settling into domestic life with their son Max when the warlocks Ragnor Fell and Shinyun Jung break into their loft and steal a powerful spell book. Realizing that Ragnor and Shinyun are being controlled by a more sinister force, Magnus and Alec set out to stop them and recover the book before they can cause serious harm. With the help of their friends, they track the warlocks to Shanghai. But nothing is as it seems. Ragnor and Shinyun are working for a greater demon. Their goal is to open a portal from the demon realms to Earth, flooding the city of Shanghai with dangerous demons. When a violent encounter causes Magnus’s magic to grow increasingly unstable, Alec and Magnus rally their friends to strike at the heart of the demon’s power. But what they find there is far stranger than anyone could have expected. This is a young adult fantasy LGBT novel with a hint of romance.

I really enjoyed this book. Magnus and Alec are one of my favourite book couples in this series and overall, so to get a book with the two of them and not everyone was amazing. The storyline was amazing, and I loved the different styles of writing from Clare and Chu. I loved the fact that we got to seem them be domestic with raising a child especially a warlock child – Max is absolutely adorable. I loved seeing the gang back together as adult and being responsible (sort of), I also love the fact that NOTHING has changed between them, yes, they've all had their challenges and they’ve all grown up but the banter and love is still there for one another.

I wouldn’t say there was any weaknesses to this book. I just wanted longer as always. Cassandra Clare could write a 5000-page novel and I would still want more. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who loves the Shadowhunter world. I would also recommend reading at least the Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices.
