Very enjoyable. I really appreciate how Connelly is moving Harry to the side, in a respectful and accessible manner. The investigations are interesting, but really play a secondary role here to the human stories.
Harry Bosch had a much smaller role in this one, but Maddie Bosch filled that space and I like this duo. My one complaint... Where was Renee's dog in this entire story?? He was mentioned once early in, that Renee was going to have to call they dog daycare to said he would need to be kept overnight... And then never mentioned again! I don't believe Renee would have just forgotten she a dog for the entire week or so that this book spanned. Random oversight... But it bugged me!

I liked this Ballard - Bosch book better than the last one that I read. The cases were engaging and the main characters believable.
