While as a woman in STEM I really appreciated the messages communicated in the background of this book, it just wasn't quite as good as The Love Hypothesis. However, I'm a big fan of You've Got Mail and loved that this functioned as a retelling. I feel like in that aspect it was successful, despite falling a little flat. Don't get me wrong though, this is worth a read and I've even re-read it.

As with The Love Hypothesis, this book is spicy and does have graphically described sexual content. It also takes place in a male dominated setting with a female protagonist which does lead to sexism and misogyny. The rest of the content warnings require some spoilers:

Early in the book it is mentioned that Bee's parents died in a car accident when she was little, but it wasn't lingered on. When we meet Levi's parents we find that they are very emotionally abusive. We also find out the Bee's previous fiancé had cheated on her repeatedly. Finally, the last content warnings refer to a scene late in the book where the MCs are being threatened at gunpoint and one of the MCs attempts to take down their attacker.

I liked the book. But I wanted to love it. Romance and neuroscience? Sign me up. But the execution was disappointing. Definitely not the authors best work.

 loved this book! Took me a while to get into it and for a while I thought The Love Hypothesis was better (and imo they’re completely different) but actually in this one there’s anonymous social media accounts, steminist politics, spice, enemies to lovers, espionage, sabotage, and cats. Everything I love. I do wish the beginning was a bit more exciting and some plot twists weren’t so predictable but it definitely picked up and I’d recommend to romance readers everywhere.

I really enjoyed reading this book! 
I loved the characters, the plot was great and the setting was very different from the usual STEM books. 
I think it was written really well and it was easy to follow, coming from someone who usually struggles to keep up with all the sciency stuff. The ONE thing that annoys me so much about romance books is when the guy is constantly described as being so large and manly and the female main character is petite and overshadowed by him. Like come on, he’s not the Incredible Hulk. 
I did have really high hopes after reading The Love Hypothesis and I have to say this book lived up to them. I loved Bee’s character and Levi is up there with Adam on my book boyfriend list. I loved the supporting characters too; Ro and Reike were amazing. 
The only negative point I have about this book is that it was slightly predictable from the start. I’m not sure if this was intentional or not.

For example, when Bee was chatting online to that account on Twitter, it was so so obvious that it was Levi. Another thing that was predictable was that Guy was going to turn out to be the villain. The way he was constantly being described as the nice guy and how lovely and kind he was, kinda made it obvious that there was something suspicious about him. Lastly, I knew that Rocio and Kaylee would end up together. The way she so passionately ‘hated’ her was a big enemies to lovers hint lmao.

Overall I’d say both Love On The Brain and The Love Hypothesis were great romance books and I’m looking forward to reading more from Ali Hazelwood!
