I’m so upset bc the first third of the book really sets up an eerie premise and the description of what they find on the tapes really were creepy! Then the book just falls off completely and doesn’t ever tell the story? Literally nothing about the tapes, there were several times it skipped back and forth between characters and in time with no transition and it was confusing. Nothing was explained at all and the entire second part of the book is about a minor character’s parents decades earlier? Then it comes back to the tapes at the end but years have passed and everyone has just moved on? Nothing made sense and I don’t know what the plot even was for most of it
In the late 90s, a video store clerk finds odd footage spliced into VHS films. Stories from the past and future help solve a mystery involving mothers and a cult. Didn’t like it as much as I did John’s other novel, Wolf in White Van.
I liked it...but it left me very confused. I still don't get the title. I feel like I need to re read it to really understand everything. I enjoyed listening to the audio and the way the author read his words
