Okay okay I had to read this for a class. It's non-fiction and, like the title suggests, it's 7 and a half essays about the brain/neurobiology/psychology. It's very very interesting. Dr. Barrett explains how the inner workings of our brains work in a very simple way and brings in new perspectives I've never thought about before. I dont like reading for school, and I'm not a fan of non-fiction, but I enjoyed reading this one. If you have an interest in psychology/neurobiology/the brain in general, then you would probably, maybe, potentially, enjoy this as well. 4/5

A must-read for anyone trying to understand modern science and the brain. It dispels myths (that came from ancient models of the brain) and presents the brain as in charge of our “body budget”. It’s not too science-y, but there are plenty of footnotes in the appendix and even more on the book’s website so that you can nerd out all you want.

I found it to be a bit boring because a lot of the info could be anticipated, but other than that it's a good primer for readers with no prior knowledge.
