This was a short and pleasant reading and I enjoyed it very much. I had good laughs and my my, the pinky thing was fun.

But while writing this I realised I was hoping for more, of what I don't know, may have expected more friction [nothing serious] between Laura and Kit, given the plot or more of anything probably. But that's on me, I just finished the #1 and expectation is a bitch!

If in doubt and you liked #1, go for it, it was well worth my time.

A bit of Christmas reading in July for me. This one is a re-read… I first came across it in an anthology and it interested me (despite it being a little difficult for me to figure out how everybody connected to each other and some of their background stuff, because I hadn't read the first book). And I finally started the series and was excited to see that, despite the anthology no longer being available (it was a limited-time deal and I made the mistake of reading it via Kindle Unlimited instead of buying my own copy), this story was now available on its own!

I'm now thoroughly charmed with Greengage and looking forward to reading more!

I love Kit and Laura together long with all the characters on and off Green have island. Kit is struggling with her first Christmas in a new place especially since her girlfriend is so busy . She takes on trying to solve the mystery of the missing Pinkie. This is a fun holiday story that made a perfect Christmas in July read/listen for me. I am starting the next book soon.

I've listened to this audiobook as part of my 12 Lesbian Audiobooks of Christmas Challenge

This novella has been previously published as part of the ‘Winter Hearts’ anthology and it’s book 1.5 of this author’s ‘Greengage’ series set on a fictional island in Britain with Kit and Laura as main characters and a group of funny islanders. Even though this is a standalone novella and I personally didn’t read/listen book one ‘Greengage Plots’, I think it’d be more enjoyable if you read/listen the first one before because there are a good number of characters and past events presented there which this novella refers to.

Librarian and solver of mysteries Kit Sorel just wants to enjoy a peaceful time during her first Christmas in Greengage with her new partner Laura. But things don’t seem to be going according to plan when Laura is swamped with work and Kit is called to solve the mysterious disappearance of ‘pinky’.

‘Greengage holiday cheer’ is an entertaining lesbian rom-com with a group of quirky characters and funny situations in the preceding days of Christmas. As the main story was introduced in the previous book, there isn’t much in terms of character or relationship development in this one, this novella mainly catches up with the characters and their Christmas plans. It’s a funny, entertaining and a bit irreverent story.

I’ve listened to the audiobook version of this novella, read by Wendy Wolfson. This was my first time listening to this narrator, I found that she was very good at performing different voices. This novella has a diversity of characters in age and gender, it’s very demanding and Ms. Wolfson performs them all proficiently. I found that her pace was a bit slow and listened to it at a faster speed, but it wasn’t a problem at all. The narrator is also very good transmitting the cheery tone of the story. All the ‘Greengage’ books are read by this narrator so I’m sure the whole of this series is worth a listen. Duration: 2 hrs and 33 mins

Overall, fun and entertaining lesbian Christmas rom-com audiobook. 4.5 stars.
