This was my first Lucy Score book and it was a fun, sexy holiday story!
Cat King is not only a reality TV star but she is a contractor by trade. So when a severe storm washes through a small town called Merry (adorable, I know) she convinces the network to allow her to save this town in time for Christmas. The only real person she has to try hard to convince is Noah, the town manager.
Noah has lived in Merry his whole life and this town gave him a lot when he had nothing. Every year they put together a huge Christmas festival which brings in lots of revenue for the town. With the flooding this year it doesn’t look like it will be very Merry in Merry unless he allows the gorgeous Cat King and her camera crew to take over their town.
I’m pretty sure Cat is a blond bombshell but when she was working construction or designing something or working on production all I could picture was Joanna Gaines.

I’m still a reader but I’m just in a slumpy mood so had to put down Onyx Storm for a bit and pick up the kindle.
Lucy Score is a writer that gets such a bad rep bc she’s overhyped but I love her

This one book is a Hallmark Christmas movie wrapped in pages with sweet words, smut, and a good ole’ miracle of Christmas. I personally love Lucy Score’s renovation books (like Maggie Moves On) and love the grumpy x sunshine that EVERY single one of her books seems to have.
This is a long book, so be warned. Cat King is a powerhouse and I love her, Sara is a sweet girl with lots of potential ahead of her, Noah is a grumpy town mayor who opens up in a way unexpected. And the rest of the supporting cast is amazing as well.
Along with the length of this book (it feels long, not so much page numbers), I have the same gripe I had with the ending of Maggie Moves On. The FMC always seems to give up more to stay in SmallTownTM than the MMC. SHE gives in. SHE has to choose her priorities. While life for the MMC doesn’t seem to change?
I don’t know. Just with strong FMCs I expect a better ending that suits them more. The epilogues were… fine. I don’t know what I was expected. The ending was predictable and the lead up was… meh. I wholly enjoyed the bulk of the book instead, with the slight discourse between the two of them, then to smut, then a tentative relationship, then a slow fall into love. The smut did kind of come out of nowhere, at least story and plot wise.
I digress. I haven’t read Paige and Gannon’s story, but I assume it’s another grumpy x sunshine and I already know they on to have a daughter so I don’t see another reason to read it. I love Lucy Score’s writing (some of it we all know my reaction to Things We Never Got Over), and I’ll continue to read it, but I hope to see an improvement in endings.
Another fantastic story by Lucy.
No nonsense go getter main female character. Hot down to earth single dad and fun spunky kid. Adorable small town and side characters.
Just the right touch of sweet and spicy!
