I love the idea of a living funeral and coming together to support each other when your life is in flames.

Sometimes you need your college bestie whom you haven’t seen in years to remind you that you are loved.

His books are very compelling and I love his writing style. He knows how to be funny and serious.

Sometimes books find you at the right moment and this was one of those reads as I’ve been thinking more about my own mortality in light of some big losses in my life this past year.

The story centers on a group of college friends as they mature their friendships over 3 decades together…and with that comes life’s struggles and grief. In those struggles, they always fall back on each other and hold comfort in the bonds they have with each other.

I thought of my friends while reading this and the grief we’ve experience together. And while some of us are hundreds of miles away from each other and may only see each other a few times a year if lucky, we trust and hold our friendship bond sacred. It’s really a beautiful thing and reading this book made me treasure the relationships I hold even greater.

While this book’s subject matter was heavy at times, the author’s style was light and refreshing, which ultimately gave me comfort in this read.

4.5/5 stars. Dinging it for some lack of character building and development (for example, I couldn’t tell the Jordan’s apart) but I still highly recommend.

I absolutely adored this book. It’s about love, friendship, and death and I came away from it deeply appreciating the story and the message.

I can’t remember the last time I read a book and laughed so hard, out loud. Rowley’s writing is quick witted and sharp. The characters spring up from the page so easily and by the end of the book I really felt like I knew these people and that they were real. I am rating this 5 stars because I know a year or two from now this is a book that will stick with me.

What a beautiful book
