The Best Of: The Avant-Guards #8

1. Tiffany seemingly waking through space to go back to her dorm room and talk to her dad. I don't know why this exists, but I love it. It fits Tiffany's aesthetic: witchy and spacey.

2. "Historically, witches of all realms have had to battle the forces of evil: Puritans, vampires, R.A.s..."

3. Tiffany's adorable little cat, Hecate. This cat is both spooky looking and very cute, and I love how Hecate just curls up around Tiffany's neck.

4. Tiffany's entire conversation with her astronaut dad. I particularly liked how excited she got about space crystals, and how he cushioned her expectations as all dads do.

5. Tiffany and Nicole opening up to each other about the secrets they're keeping: Tiffany about her famous dad and how she keeps that quiet to protect herself and Nicole about her love of comedy and loss of interest in music despite her parents' expectations.

6. Charlie getting excited about the sneaker convention Allie, her little sister, texted her about and Olivia teasing her about it. I adore this relationship. Also, bonus points for Ashley saying she's never seen Charlie this excited about anything.

7. Nicole and Tiffany discussing the various kind of cons there are for witches.

8. Jordan being the best supportive boyfriend as the only fan present for the team his girlfriend coaches. We should all have a Jordan.

9. So much beautiful basketball content that I can't even pick my favorite part. (Though, a special mention to Tiffany hexing another player.)

10. Liv going into Liv mood and the other coach being surprised by it while Ashley explains Liv does this all the time.

The Avant Guards vol. 1-8
(I've decided to do a series review but this includes no spoilers for any of the volumes)

+This was an extremely quick read set in college following a basketball team
+The characters are diverse and very, very easy to like. We have some strong personalities and they are very wonderful
+It is a supportive friendship group !!
+ The art is really colourful and cool

This was a super easy read with some great characters. There wasn't really anything wrong with it but it wasn't too memorable so I'm rating it 3 stars. I don't think I was too invested in the plot and because it was so short we didn't get to go too deep into anything. But still a solid read that I think most would have a decent time with.
