It’s so lovely revisiting childhood favourites. The dedication of the mouse and his creativity to protect his red, ripe strawberry is illustrated so beautifully and is so captivating till this day.
A charming, sweet and funny book. I loved reading this as as a little girl.

A cute book for storytime that let's the readers play with the text. Interaction and beautiful pictures!
For: food storytimes or readers wanting a book with interactive/predictive elements.
Red flags: characters appear threatened by impending bear.

Little Mouse goes to pick a beautiful red, ripe strawberry. The narrator tells the mouse about a big hungry bear that finds strawberries no matter what. The narrator gives little mouse advice about how to hide the strawberry from the big hungry bear. This is such a cute book. I remember reading it from my childhood. The illustrations are beautiful and the story is simple and fun for small children. The ending was really adorable.
This was the first book I ever read. I was later than my peers in learning to read, but once I did I adored reading. I have such nostalgia for this book, the artwork and story alike. My joy and triumph at reading it might be one of my earliest happy memories, actually.
This is such a great book! Highly recommended for younger children.
