Will update as I read!

Unseen by Brynn Ford:
Copy received from the author. Voluntarily reviewing and all opinions are objective and my own. Brynn always has a way of pulling you in with anything she writes and this is no different. There’s not a huge plot here, but it’s not supposed to be either, right. A short, spicy novella, and this does just that.

The Desire in Deception:
A prequel novella to her upcoming series that bridges the path between Burning Notes and Hawke’s background and that future mafia series. Short, spicy, and be sure to check your triggers. Not recommended if certain things bother you.

So far I have only read Damaged Hearts by C. Hallman and JL Beck and it was spectacular and kept me glued and invested to this book until the end.
This book begins with Julie being captive in an unbelievable scenario. It is devastating and brutal. Markus and Fallon arrive on the scene and Markus’s brother steps in to help out. Beautifully written, sad at times, but I need more of their story!

4 stars Only read HD Carlton’s “What Lies Between Us” for now. Just needed to add it to my book stats. Also didn’t know it was going to be a cliffhanger.

What Lies Between Us - H.D. Carlton

Oh my god!! The setting is a spooky ass academy that’s open for rich troubled kids.

We have Echo who was accused and acquitted of his ex-girlfriends murder but everyone at school still thinks he did it. Especially her brother, Link Mason.

The story was so good and juicy. There are things in the walls of this Academy. It’s eery, it’s spooky, and appears to be haunted. By the living or dead? I’m not sure.

What we do have is Echo who knows the real murderer is still out there at this school. And he’s determined to clear his name.

This is an MM story. It gets spicy.

dnf at the very beginning

do not care how it will end or what other stories are but can we not make the sex trafficking plot and call it dark romance?

So far I have only read Damaged Hearts by JL Beck and C Hallman, but I can't wait to dive into the others as well. For now here is my Daaged Hearts review:

To be a short story this packs so much within it. My heart broke, it shattered, then Felix comes into the picture and my heart starts to heal like Julie does. Julie endures things no one should ever, but no matter what happens to her she keeps her head strong to survive, so when it's time to heal she can move forward. She's a little bent, but not broken and Felix comes into her life he is slightly bent too. Together they find a bond that helps them both, yet Felix doesn't feel as if he is the right person for her to fall for, so he tries to push her away without hurting her even more. I am so glad that their story is going to get expanded because I feel both of these characters have so much left to show us and I know it will be a tragic and beautiful journey.

I recevied an ARC for The Desire in Deception by M.L. Philpitt as part of this anthology.

First of all, I always appreciate an author who lists out their trigger warnings thoroughly.

Catalina Bellini has grown up to understand her place in life and what is expected of her in the mafia family. An arranged marriage to create alliances, follow her husband's rule, and produce an heir for the family. Little does she know, she has even less control that she realises when Lorenzo Corsetti blows in.
Lorenzo is after vengance and to claim what should have been his all along and he will do anything to ensure he gets her.

This novella is the prequel to the first book in the Fractured Ever After series and I'm now so intrigued to read the series. I would have loved this to be a full book, not just a novella because I feel with a bit more length this could have been so much darker.
I am also very excited to read the rest of the stories, as this has whet the appetite for all the morally grey, villain gets the love interest, and take me to the dark side tales in one book.

Please read the TW: Dubious consent, non-consensual sexual encounters, explicit sexual content, physical violence, swearing, breeding, murder, captivity, and forced marriage.

♥️Where Morals Die by Suki Williams♥️

This one was a super quick read for me. I found myself swiping even after the last chapter because I wanted more. Bratva/Mafia/MC turf was to come? We shall see! I was not expecting what happens after Rheva is forced to pick a side. I do wonder about all her little connections she seems to have. Also, her sisters a cunt.
