Dinosaurs have been on my mind a lot recently. I read The Lost World many years ago as a teenager, but I don't remember much about it. Its hard to first see a movie, then see that movie several times, then read the book, and then keep watching that movie over and over again, and still have a good idea of what the book was about.
There are a lot of great action scenes in this book that made me again realize why I love dinosaurs so much. Also there was a dinosaur in this book that plays a major role in the recent film Jurassic World, that I hadn't noticed before.
Not as good as the first book, but at least it is still better than the third movie.

I love the Jurassic Park books. I love dinosaurs. There, I said it. Dinos are cool. There's still so much we don't know, so many species we haven't discovered, so many cool things they could do that we will never get to witness with our eyeballs. I just find them endlessly fascinating. My toxic trait is that I'd probably go to Jurassic Park if it existed even though I know how that story ends. Just to see the damn dinos.
This sequel is action-packed. I was hooked from page one. Are the characters developed and interesting? Not really. Do I care? No. Did we get to see some dinosaurs pretty quickly? Hell yes. Did my favorites make an appearance (Raptors)? Of course! And they were every bit as maniacal as they were in the first book. Just bonkers. If psychopaths were dinos, they'd be raptors. But the kind you love. Like Dexter. Because, as we all know, the real villain in these stories is always humanity. Humanity is the fucking worst.
Anyway, read this if you want some fun dinosaur shit.

Loved this book! So many twists and turns that I did not see coming. The dinosaur content I was looking for!

While I like Michael Crichton’s writing a lot, I found this sequel to lack the tension and technical focus that really made me enjoy Jurassic Park. It was more lighthearted than I was hoping for.

Like if a sequel was written by someone who only skimmed the original.
Dinosaurs are just fun. This just doesn't have the suspense and thrill as the first.
