Never thought I would have good things to say about Nebraska, this book was a TikTok rec and I’m so glad that I read it, it’s beautiful. Read it in one day …actually like seven hours and avoiding sleep😬🤣🤣…The characters are so rich and the writing is so lyrical and poetic, just a beautiful story. I love that she didn’t make it like overly difficult for the characters to be together, while still having like real world issues and keeping it realistic. Great portrayal of different sexual identities as well as neurodivergence.

I fell in love with Ellis & Lucky from the beginning of this book, I just adored their characters individually, as friends, and as more when they got there. As the mother of a neurodivergent child I really appreciate how Emmy wrote Ellis she didn't make him a clichéd representation of someone who is neurodivergent and the interactions depicted between Ellis and his mum & Lucky were wonderful. He was surrounded by people who accepted him for who he is and the level of understanding Lucky had to interpret Ellis's non-verbal communication was lovely to see represented in a book.

This story is beautifully written. It is romantic in its longing and emotional moments of these two best friends wanting each other but not knowing how to go about getting it. Ellis wants Lucky to be free to pursue his dreams he just isn't aware that one of those dreams is Lucky wants to be with Ellis. There are some time jumps spanning a couple of years, but they are done in a cohesive way and add to the pining both characters go through. My issue with this lies in the fact that they ended up together sooner than I expected in the book and there was still a sizeable chunk to go so I spent majority of that chunk expecting a shoe to drop/something high angst to happen to put these characters and their relationship to the test and other than a slight blip between them at one point there was nothing. As much as I wanted to protect these characters from harm I needed for them to have to fight for it on some level, it was all a bit too easy once they admitted how they felt for each other. After the first half of the book, I was craving more angst, I guess. The chemistry between them was great as was the spice when we get there was good too, although considering Ellis is a Virgin and on the spectrum I was expecting more awe of discovery or perhaps awkwardness in those moments than there was. Overall, I enjoyed this book. The neurodivergent representation was done so well, and these characters and the epilogue were super sweet, I just expected/wanted more from the second half of the story, so it doesn't quite reach top marks for me. 🌶🌶

The best book I have ever read. As someone on the spectrum and a mother of a child who is also a non-speaking autistic person, this book brought me to tears. I have never loved a book so much. Instant buy.

What Ellis and Lucky have is PURE love. I also love how as much as we knew ellis was autistic the author didnt make that the focus of her book. Also when the tornado chapters came all i was worried about was mrs cole.

IM BURSTING WITH LOVE!!! THE FRIENDS TO LOVERS BOOK!! Something so fucking kind about both their love for each other. God Ellis loves so fucking big. He wants the world for Lucky bc he sees how full of life he is. He may not speak out loud much but all his written words show the care and unfiltered amount of love he has. He is so himself its one of my favorite things. Lucky is also so big and kind. It's even quite I think than Ellis's not because he doesn't love him as much (actually  the opposite) but as someone who's also neurodivergent, literally just the pure way of just understanding Ellis so much is love. He just loves Ellis for all who he is. They just make me love Love for real. I also appreciate  that even tho Mrs. Cole was sick it was never tragic just a point that was different im Ellis's life. Dani is such a lovely friend and having the lovely aro rep made me so happy. Queerplatonic Dani and Lucky are everything to me. Oh and the epilogue God I love them.
