I cannot believe it took me THIS long to actually get around to starting this series. Or just a Rick Riordan book in general. I’ve had this series now on my shelves for awhile and I just never knew when I’d get to it. I’ve known everyone to RAVE about this series and everything.
I’m really pleasantly and happily surprised with how much I enjoyed this! It was so much fun and I really liked the characters. I liked the wit and humor that comes along with it and everything too.
I don’t know a TON or really much about Greek Mythology or actually mythology in general. It wasn’t ever my interest growing up. I was just about age of the characters when the books were coming out but I never really knew a lot about them. Or I didn’t hear many talking about it in general I feel like.
I’m sad I waited this long to start this series. But I really liked it. I’m glad Believathon got me to finally pick it up because it was 100% worth it. I also now really want to read the rest of Riordan’s books so that’s a win!

I had a feeling I would enjoy this book if I ever got round to reading it and I definitely did! I had seen the first film before knowing about the series and the book was a million times better.
I didn't expect it to remind me so much of Harry potter as in the film they are older, but I'm glad it did because it's refreshing to read a book series again that doesn't immediately have teen romance.
I really enjoyed the way this book is written and I know I shouldn't but I do compare it to Harry potter but it's the first series I've read since that closest reminds me of my beloved Potter. And that isn't a detraction at all! I cannot wait to read the next one as I burned through the first.
