I agree with someone else’s assessment...Average.

The transgender negativity was frustrating and not needed.

Aw, Hamish and Priscilla got engaged in this one. Too bad it didn't stick.

A reread. I especially enjoyed the scene where Hamish heroically saved a child from drowning.

Lots of twists and turns, I really enjoy how Beaton writes her murders. It's the perfect combination of a cast of comfortable and familiar characters whilst the thrill of murder remains.

The first half was really bad, but the second half picked up.

They get more complex and interesting the further one gets in the series, but less…pleasant…

For one reason or another, I have not been reading this series in order, instead randomly picking up titles. "Traveling Man" is one of the last I had left to read in the series. What a treat to finally read about Constable Willie Lamont! Hamish and Willie are like the odd couple - I found myself laughing quite a few times during the book. Loved that this takes place in Lochdubh; plenty of Priscilla, and we even have Angela Brody, Mrs. Wellington, and Jessie Currie as suspects in a murder! This book was great fun.

Fun murder mystery with slightly cringey, pseudo-romantic backstory. Easy listen. Narrator OK.
