I actually really liked this book. It was a bit slow at times, but I found it so interesting finding out about the backstory of the characters and honestly I didn’t see the part about Teresa coming. I felt betrayed like Thomas.

I decided to read this book because I was enjoying this storyline and wanted to know how James was going to do this book. I have a love/hate relationship with this book and series.
The main character is a young boy named Thomas. He is living and working at a place called WICKED and trying to find a cure to a virus which has been named the Flare. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world where the earth has been destroyed by this virus. WICKED have saved the next generation before they were infected and trying to find a way to live.
My favourite parts of this novel were the chapters with character development and the chapters with Thomas and his friends. Those chapters just make the first book funnier but almost heart-warming because of the events in this book. I still love Thomas’s personality and how he protects his friends because his friends are his family. I like this book, but I feel like it killed me as much as The Death Cure especially because I was expecting it to kill me because of the Kill Order. I am finally glad that we got all the answers in this book because I was confused because the Kill Order and the plot. My least favourite parts of the novel were the small chapters! They are still really annoying, but I really wanted answers and I did enjoy the storyline.
I am really glad that James Dashner did another book because the last book did confuse me and left me with more questions than answers. This book did give me more answers such as Thomas’s and Teresa’s back story and the Kill Order finally made sense. If you have read the Kill Order and felt like giving up then please just push through with this series. It will all make sense.

I think that this is my favorite book in The Maze Runner series. It finally gives us Thomas's background and the truth behind Wicked. I also found it much better written than the other Maze Runner books.
