The book was nothing extraordinary.  The second part was quite repetitive and the resolution was also bland and uneventful.
But I did enjoy this one a bit more than the first book!

So far I am really enjoying this new series. Love the characters and the story, it's a book you won't want to put down.

I love the two authors that make up the fabulous Mika Nix (KM Neuhold & Mia Monroe). They are both "One-Click" authors for me so it was a no brainer to read the first book in this series "Hot Head". Once I read the great story of Nico & Lake and the dragon family that make up Drake Security I couldn't wait for book #2 to make it's appearance. "Smolder" is a great continuation of the series. Hemingway & Dempsey are two book nerds (have to love them) that have never found their true MATE. Until now. Hemingway (yes named after that author) is big and gorgeous with all that dragon possessiveness. Dempsey is a sweet collector of all things unique and interesting. Dempsey is in need of some protection from an "unseen" force and Hemingway is the person to help him out. I loved the two of them together and can't wait for the next book. I love all the Drake men and the Mates that will make them happy. I highly recommend this book and series. Enjoy!

Step back, Nico . Hemingway is here to steal your heat and soul.
With the second installment of Drake Security, we get to meet Hemingway, a beautiful dorky and pocessive dragon, and his mate Dempsey, a fellow collector of books and unique antiques.
The chemistry is quirky and exciting from the the get go, it just takes Dempsey a minute to catch up (dragons are a little pocessive). We fly the world in this fun filled mystery to who or what is stalking Dempsey and his shop. Lake returns with his loving snarky wit to captivate more people under his spell. With this addition, we meet vampires and witches that look to be making more appearances in future Drake Security books, and I, for one, cannot wait! This motley crew has my kind of banter and love for another. You can't help but feel at home.

This was utterly delightful. I'm not typically a fan of dragons but since I enjoyed the first book well enough I thought I'd give this one a try and I'm so very glad that I did. Hemingway is wonderful. If you have to be a dragon, you'd best be hoarding books, is all I'm saying. The literary (and pop culture) references tickled me as well as the random historical tidbits. Basically, an excellent time was had and I'm looking forward to future books in the series.

The second book of the Drake Security series had a bit of a rocky start for me. Hemingway seemed to give into his impulses really easily, and I was very worried about the kind of tone the book would take because of that. His dragon was incredibly covetous (which makes sense), and seemed to take control more often than not. Considering they call Nico the hot head, I felt that title was far more appropriate for Hemingway.

But soon, most of that made sense. Hemingway was responding to a threat. He just didn't know it at the time. And Dempsey was very sure to let Hemingway know exactly when and how far to back off when needed.

Something I really liked about this book was the easy way Lake folded Dempsey into the mix. Lake supported Dempsey unconditionally as Dempsey navigated his new normal, and made him feel welcome. And while we have five blood-related brothers, the extended found family that they're building is lovely.

After the first book, I was anticipating an underlying plot that would tie the series together. And while that's not quite what's happening, each story does play into the next, creating a rich world with very vibrant characters.

Two brothers have met their mates, and there are three left. I'm really looking forward to seeing who encounters their mate next!

Smolder is a deeply romantic, swoon-worthy love story between a nerdy antiques dealer who thinks love has passed him by and the book-hoarding dragon who is entranced by him.

Dempsey calls in Drake Security after his antique shop is broken into, and Hemingway is drawn to the awkward and somewhat shy man immediately — but is it a real connection or just his desire to find his mate like his brother did? They have to figure their relationship out as they figure out who — or what — is after Dempsey. Can Hemingway woo this delightful book nerd before the dark forces at work come to play?

I knew from reading book one in the Drake Security series that I was going to love Hemingway, our resident hot nerd dragon, and boy, did I ever. Book-hoarding, whisking our hero away for impromptu *book-buying* trips, and generally being just a perfectly hot dragon? All the swoons. While this can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the first book because it’s good and it will give you all the important details on the fated mates and overarching story. Also, the books are really different in tone and story arc — this one is much more romantic and paced, and the first is more insta-possessiveness and protection vibes — but both are fantastic. Definitely recommend.
