“once upon a time, in a land long since burned to ash, there lived a young princess who loved her kingdom …”
i only started this series purely because i'd heard that there was a feysand cameo in the final book (book hangovers are real, okay?!) but i didn't realize how attached i'd become to these characters until i read the last line.
i don't think i'll ever love this series as much as i love acotar, but that's okay. because i know that these books are the kinds of books i'm going to pick up when i'm older and become transported back to my childhood, to lands where fantasy and magic thrive.
i just want to add this quote:
an amazing series, and totally worth it.

aelin smiled, and goldryn burned brighter. 'i am a god.”

I again have no clue how to rate this. You see, there were five star moments. Moments that made me laugh, that nearly made me cry, that had me on the edge of my seat.
But simultaneously, there were moments where I wanted to throw my ereader across the room after the 937420th eyeroll or yet another front line war scene (which I don't really care about). The book dragged on, and it could and should have been a lot shorter.
And that brings me to the end of this series. Though I enjoyed the story itself and the vast world around it a lot, Maas's writing is not my favourite. I am glad I am done with this series, so I can move on to something else.

This book. So long. But so very worth it. I laughed, I cried, I screamed...all the emotions. This entire series. My brain chemistry is forever altered. The beautiful world that SJM painted in my mind *chef's kiss*

What an emotional, brilliant conclusion to the series. I didn't want it to end!
