4.5 out of 5 Stars: The MH rep in this book is need in more books. The importance of food and community even how music can bring comfort and people together.

I adored Avery, Daisy, and Neals antics. Love Alexei's view on teaching and and Music. The way Maritza overcame her agoraphobia if it was for others and her food. The way she rebonded with her Nonna and the way it brought her to cooking and tied and grounded her was everything. The way grief can affect people in different ways is such an important theme.

I loved going back to this tiny island by the Cornish Sea. The supporting cast made this trip so worthwhile. I enjoyed the story between Marisa and Alexei, it was sweet and that’s what each of them needed. The way this community comes together is so heartwarming, you just want to linger for a while.

I found the book lighthearted and easy to read although at times it was also a bit slow. I found the description of the area a bit hit and miss with me finding it difficult to imagine at times, having been to this part of Cornwall it didn’t fit with my recollections.
The story line of boy meets girl and they don’t like each other until they figure out they are in love was quite predictable. I did however like the story line about long grief and just grief can be different for everyone even members of the sane family grieving the same loss. I especially liked the link between grandmother and granddaughter and how they found comfort in each other in different countries using technology.
I would be interested to read another book by this author to see if it is any better or is this her style in all her books. 3.5⭐️
