3/5 - Wish I was engaged more with the plot and magic system, which has a lot of things going for it (Nazis)(need I say more). Enjoyed select lines between the two main characters, since there is nothing more relatable to me than hoping you eventually will find love at 38 yo.

It's a slow start but clear that a lot of research went into it. Considered not finishing it. Once it picked up, it was hard to put down. Overall enjoyed it.

3.5 this took me forever to read because i was so busy but the first third of the book is so slow! you can clearly tell the author has done research and its interesting but still it was too slow of a pace. there were some twists i didnt expect (which sparked my motivation to keep those pages turning) and i loved the magic system. but to be quite honest, the ending is predictable. i dont want to spoil at all but i was just ready to finish it! kind of disappointed as i have heard such great things about this author! still a fun and lightly spooky read. im hoping to get around to Mexican Gothic soon!

The book was pretty slow in the beginning, at this point I ended up looking up a summary of the book and decided I just didn't want to finish it. 
It's a good book but it just wasn't for me.
