MURDER, INTRIGUE, ROMANCE AND SUSPENSE…
Author Lynn H. Blackburn keeps her readers completely immersed in this thrilling suspense novel. With a cast of likable characters who happen to be coworkers and friends, plus a plot that just keeps thickening, readers won’t be able to put this book down!
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts below are my own.
In Too Deep, book two in Lynn H. Blackuburn’s Dive Team Investigations series, follows investigator Adam Campbell and forensic-skilled Dr. Sabrina Fleming as they work together to uncover the secrets that lay in a case involving a recently recovered body and laptop from a submerged car.
Being a suspense lover, I was really surprised I hadn’t come across author Lynn H. Blackburn before. From the first chapter, she had me completely hooked on this story. Paralleling my other favorite authors such as Dani Pettrey and Irene Hannon, this suspense novel is a must read. The mystery behind the case this team is working on keeps readers interested and turning the pages late at night (and perhaps keeping the lights on too). With a fast paced story line and constant, continued interaction between the key characters, I think this is a great read for any suspense lover. Being that it is book two in a series, this novel has me wanting to read Beneath the Surface now (the story between investigator Ryan Parker and NP Leigh Weston, who make appearances in In Too Deep). Regardless, this novel does well as a standalone.
I’m certain romantic suspense lovers will enjoy the budding relationship forming between Investigator Campell and Dr. Fleming. These two each have their own unique personalities and it’s quite the ride as they work together and connect on a more personal level. I highly enjoyed all the characters in this novel. They were well rounded and each had a story of their own, coming from different backgrounds and areas of expertise. My only drawback to this novel was the ending… There was a quick wrap up that I wasn’t expecting to the case and it felt anticlimactic… But then an information dump from the villain left me reading more slowly to make sure I grasped what had really happened. The chapters became short and somewhat choppy plus there was a lot of narrative from the author tying up the details, but it was still a great story and still enjoyable!

Good read, but...
The books was a good read, but I felt the author missed out on a chance to add in some information. There were parts were I was expecting a deeper explanation. Instead, she glossed over it. Some areas she went into deep detail. I don’t want to post any spoilers.
She did the same in book one.... at the end. The ending of book one started the story for this book, but we only have Ryan’s take on it.
Hopefully, book three doesn’t gloss over parts.

A nice continuation of the story, characters, and setting. Lynn does a great job of story-telling.
4.5 stars
I started reading this immediately after finishing Beneath the Surface, the first book in this series. I couldn't get enough of these characters and had to dive right into the next mystery.
This story focuses on investigator Adam Campbell and Dr. Sabrina Fleming. Sabrina was my favorite character from book one. She's 'refreshingly honest', saying pretty much whatever she's thinking, and is a genius with computers. She's not the best at reading emotions or social situations, but that's one of the most endearing things about her. She's awesome. And Adam! One word - swoonworthy! He comes from a super wealthy family, but he's down to earth. He's sweet, humble, good-natured. A true gentleman. I could go on and on, lol.
This book touches upon some heavy subjects, but I really appreciated that. It's absolutely horrifying that human trafficking and modern-day slavery are happening all around us, right now. I was glad that this book shined a light on these heinous crimes. It can't be talked about enough.
I greatly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to everyone who enjoys this genre. Even if you haven't read book one, this one stands alone just fine.

Lynn is a new to me author. This series has been incredible, and I can’t wait for book 3! The story has been well plotted and the characters well thought out. I most enjoyed the progression of unique characters in situations that don’t constantly appear in this genre (which is a genre I love!) These stories will stick out in my mind because of the unique/robust characters. Bring on more books by Lynn!
**Special Note: This is an ARC book that was given to me by Library Thing. All opinions expressed in this review are strictly my own.**
Lynn H. Blackburn is a new author to me. I don't recall ever reading a novel about dive team investigations, but it was great! Sabrina, Adam, Anissa, Gabe are all dynamite characters and I enjoy reading the dialogue and visualizing their interactions.
Human trafficking is a problem that we are hearing more about in our society. It is a major problem that I hope will be addressed as more people become aware of it. Too often, we just think about children being trafficked into the country as nothing more than sex slaves, but there is more to it than that.
I'm not fully certain that this book is a stand-alone novel. For starters, this is the second book of a planned series. I thought there were a couple places in the book that hinted to the first book in the series. Since I have not read the first book, I cannot honestly tell you if this is a stand-alone or not.
I will look forward to more releases from this author. If they continue to be as good as this book, I will likely be able to recommend them.
This was book two in the Dive Team investigation series. I didn’t read book one but still enjoyed book two. You can read this one as a stand alone.
