was an emotional punch. the bond between yang fei and his father as well as his encounter with his ex-wife in the afterworld were my favorite parts.

i think these types of books are my favorite: wandering protagonists that showcase glimpses of others’ lives whilst avoiding the urge to shove an obvious agenda down the readers’ throats.

the choice to just show us these glimpses of the human experience and allow us to take what we need away from them is much more rewarding to all involved.

a cute, simple read :)

Un ritratto fantastico della Cina moderna, viene dipinta chiaramente la disuguaglianza sociale e la presenza opprimente dello stato, che insabbia le notizie scomode e svantaggia sistematicamente le classi sociali più basse. Nel vagare del protagonista nell'aldilà vengono raccontate pian piano la sua storia e le storie dei personaggi che lo circondano ed ogni storia é a suo modo tragica ma bellissima. Una lettura abbastanza impegnativa per i temi trattati ma che consiglio assolutamente.
