It wasn't nearly as entertaining as the first one. But it was nice to get some closure on Rumaysa's story (though a bit too soon imo this could be a series) and find out exactly what Cordelia was using her powers for.

this second (and last book) was more structured and fast, which i actually enjoyed.

following the first book we see rumaysa searching and getting closer to her parents. she also gets to meet others prince and princesses.. and witches.

again, i really liked it ! the couple of times the narrators talked directly to us were great additions. it kind of influences my way of reading the book (like my inner voice changed, i guess?)

god damn I really love reading. Anyway, I really like the casual depiction of Rumaysa praying at certain times of the day, the fairest women having brown skin sa mirror, mirror of the wall, etc. I also really enjoyed the take for the Snow White retelling, it hhhh don't have the words but something something generational trauma something something.

I'm grateful for the existence of this book as a fellow devourer of fairy tales growing up

Cette suite conclut parfaitement cette duologie et maintient tout à fait ce qui s'est fait dans le premier volet !

I didn't mind this and it was lovely how it was all tied up but I much preferred the structure of the first book. I felt this lacked the power and excitement of the first one. I did like the slight twist but felt a lot of it could have been built in more.
