Lots of fun little factoids spread throughout this thing, though sometimes the author leans a little too hard onto the "humans have better senses than we think" premise and makes pretty extreme claims with relatively lukewarm evidence.

I was excited to read this book as I had heard great things but it exceeded my expectations! Sentient is such an interesting read, a book split up into 12 sections looking at a specific animal and how it's remarkable sense has helped us learn about our human senses.
The science in this book is so well written, lits of detail but not so much that it comes off as a scientific journal. It is gripping in places and highly interesting and I learnt so much.
There was one or two chapters that I personally didn't find as interesting, or they went on a little too long which is why I couldn't quite give 5 stars. Also it would have been nice to have more pictures, drawings or diagrams to add to the fantastic writing.
I could not recommend this book more for those interested in this type of science and animals in general. Fantastic!
