This is the 4th book in the series and while it can be read as a standalone i think they are best if you read them in order. This is a fantastic addition to a super series it is really well written with a fantastic plot and super characters i just could not put it down and ended up finishing it in one sitting.Recommended to all

I received an ARC copy in exchange for honest review

I absolutely love Marie's books especially her Cerberus series and this book did not disappoint. As Kincaid was my favourite I was looking forward to reading about his brother Dominic. It's safe to save I have a new favourite (i'll Keep Kincaid as a close second). This book was full of twists and turns and I loved every single one of them. Couldn't put it down.

Each book in Cerberus series can be read as stand alone but I'd recommend reading whole series it's amazing!!!

The narrative centers on the theme of redemption, exploring the poignant scars carried by the two main characters. It's a tale that may even surpass Kinkaide's work, which is saying something, as I usually prefer originals to sequels. Mak's story is particularly moving; her past is heart-wrenching, yet she exhibits remarkable strength in her resolve to prevent others from enduring similar pain. This is a book I would enthusiastically recommend over and over again!

Lots of trigger warnings. Make sure you carefully review them prior to starting this book.

Super dark and twisted kinky. Unlike the other 4 Cerberus MC books I’ve read so far. Not sure how to rate it given how conflicted I am with the topics it touches on.

I haven't read any of the other Cerberus books but was able to read and follow this story without any problems. It also doesn't seem to contain (many) spoilers for previous books, which is a big plus. Mak has been the victim of sexual abuse, if this may be a trigger you need to be aware. There are some dream/recollection scenes but nothing too graphic.

Dominic isn't a member of the MC so they don't feature heavily in this story. However Mak is the sister of President from another MC so there is still an MC feel to the book. I like that the Cerberus MC aren't typical 'MC Bikers' but are all ex-military and therefore the club is different to most - no drugs/gun running etc. There is no struggle here with how can the hero be a hero when he is a criminal.

Dominic is a complete douche at times with how he treats Mak, but at least he realises this fact even if he doesn't know how to rectify the problem. If Mak wasn't in fear for her life I am sure she would have left him on more than one occasion. However Dominic makes Mak feel safe, something she hasn't known in a long time and gradually she opens up to him and lets him into her life.

The chemistry between Dominic and Mak in the book is intense, and whilst he has some Dominant tendencies any BDSM is very mild and certainly consensual. I really enjoyed this story, the fear and desperation Mak felt was very well portrayed and her emotional journey brought tears to my eyes more than once. Dominic

I was almost disappointed with the resolution to what had made Mak run away and seek help from Dominic, but in some ways it was probably more realistic than the alternatives. It just seemed a big build up and then it was over and done. However this allowed the focus to remain on the connection between Dominic and Mak, and whether Dominic would realise he could love again.

The plot is well thought through, there are some nice sub-plots, the characters are believable and rounded, the writing flows nicely and the dialogue is easy to follow. I knew I liked Marie James having read 'We Said Forever'. This is a VERY different style of story to that but it is just as gripping and emotion filled and is just as good a book.

I absolutely loved this book. It was another amazing MC by Marie. She has a certain way of writing that draws you into the story and has you holding on to see what is going to happen next. There is just something about Dominic. I can say out of the four MC guys so far Dominic is my favorite.
Dominic has led a rough life since his wife destroyed him when he was deployed serving. She does the unthinkable that you cant come back from. He decides that he is going to try and live life one day at a time just being himself and not getting involved. But that gets thrown to the curb when Makayla shows up on her door step needing help. There is just something about her that makes him want more from life. She is in trouble and hurting. She doesnt know who else to trust and feels that Dominic will help her. Will these two get together and be enough to get through what they are facing? Will Dominic be able to save her? This is a must read. I absolutely loved this one and cannot wait to read more from this series. One of my favorite MC.
