Animal Farm 5 ⭐
The struggle of the animals and the portrayal of the suffering of the working class is too real.

Nineteen Eighty Four(1984) 5 ⭐

A book everyone should read once in their lifetime. If I could, I would give more stars.

Unlike everyone else in the country, I never read Animal Farm in school. I was in the lower sets for English literature and I think the teachers in charge of us thought we wouldn’t be able to grasp the concept of the 1917 Russian Revolution but as Animals.

Well, to be fair to them, they were wrong and idiots.

I read it and I grasped the concept!

Take that, Mr Knightly!

1984 - 4 ⭐️

what to do when ur thoughts aren’t ur own. the excerpts from goldstien’s book were really interesting and this one line “the best books are those that tell you what you know already.” kinda didn’t understand the ending and the whole book felt extremely slow paced and on,y something seemed to happen in the third part. from what i can infer by winston loving big brother is that in this world the few outcasts struggle so much and grow so week and that no matter what they do it’s gets extremely difficult to change reality that sometimes they can’t help but succumb to accepting things as they are and be susceptible to the propaganda. but i can definitely see some striking similarities to our real world as that in the book. also thoughts are difficult to think some times and we all might be following many various propagandas if we don’t come up with our own words but pass down what we’ve mostly heard from individuals. idk this is just a msg for me to think og. obrien was soooo confusing. and i would like to say it again that I could not fully comprehend the book. but also the newspeak appendix and the purpose of language to limit thoughts kind of tells me to read more and know more words to express my thoughts articulately and not fall into negative thoughts by using sentences that a common misogynist or a political figure worshipper etc would say. how we think and how we put our thoughts in language is a skill and needs to be done wisely.

Animal Farm - 5 ⭐️

finally, a book in a long while which i do not have an urge to reread sometime later after just finishing it. animal farm is a simple story and a harsh reality. it talks about freedom, nationalism, a constitution to live by, the rules and regulations we make, the kind of life we want to live and always dream of something better. to live with freedom and dignity but it all comes back to form a round circle. the society exists in a social hierarchy and it is hard to imagine it without one - “all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others.”
the reality is always so difficult to debate upon. both the for and against of any motion have some valid points and seems very difficult imo to opinion to consider some of more weight than others. it makes my brain go insane how so many things exist in contradiction and if we wish to somehow change our lives to something better it always seems to be coming back to the same struggle - “only old Benjamin professed to remember every detail of his long life and to know that things never had been, nor ever could be much better or much worse— hunger, hardship, and disappointment being, so he said, the unaltered law of life.”
the debate of socialism vs capitalism and how a society should be organised…will we really ever have a perfect answer if not to just surrender to the primitive urge to love and be loved.
