The book is so well researched and informative, I would give it 5 ⭐. That being said, it's like reading a textbook . It's very dry. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator is monotone so that didn't enhance it in any way. Highly recommend.

This book was rough to get through, but it had more to do with the heaviness of the topic. Just when I thought I was well informed of the terrible history of this country, I learned even newer things that shouldn't have surprised me as they did. It was very informative though, and I highly recommend reading it, though I also encourage people to take breaks in between chapters.

This is a critical read for anyone in the US. I'd recommend it to literally anyone--although some of it is absolutely infuriating and really difficult to read, I think especially for white people in the US/people descended from settlers, it's essential regardless of how it makes you feel.

This reframes the history of the entirety of the United States in terms of it as a settler colonial state that committed genocide against Native Americans. I wish every school in America taught US history from this perspective. I'm glad to hear there's also a "for young readers" version of this book so that there's one kids can read in school.

This is a very informative history of America from the perspective of the tribes who lived here first. There’s a heavy focus on genocide and violence and a need for return and reform and reparations. Emotional read.
