My rating - Three Stars.
This book was okay but I found bit boring and dull also Victorian psycho by Virginia Feito or Dracula's child by J. S. Barnes may like is book. I hate the cover of book. The writing was hard to follow and It took some time to get used it. The atmosphere was fine but it bit bland. The paced of plot was well structured and steady paced. I have mixed feeling about the characters

Great read! Very well done and entertaining. Pretty dark but that's to be expected with this type of story.

i can understand the reasons for a lot of the writing decisions, but i just thought they didn't work for me. still an alright read i'd say, but definitely not necessary
Wasn’t actually about vampires, slow paced.
Second book I've read about vampires -theoretically, because Laszlo in this book wasn't really a vampire- and totally fell for it.
Needless to say, I'm in love with Laszlo. Apart from him being smart, tall and absolutely gorgeous, I loved the character due to his moral degradation over the pages -I feel sympathy for the ill ones, I'm sorry-:
1. Laszlo starts being a successful medical student, but because of his tormented-psyche (he had an urge to bite this patient's neck), Laszlo ends up being an isolated human in constant need of blood.
2. It's literally a reinvention of the Dracula classic myth, but in this case, our protagonist it's not a real vampire. That's what society makes Laszlo think he is, but our poor boy, little does he know, he's just suffering from a real bad disorder: clinical vampirism.
It's a really well written story about a non-traditional-vampire-novel, but the scenario makes it looks like one (nineteenth century Paris and a splendid Budapest shaken by nationalist conspiracies, which, of course, beautifully detailed)
Totally recommend it if you wanna feel Laszlo's suffering and if you like dark novels.

Starts off slow, not quite as bloody as the back cover blurb implies, but ultimately satisfying.
Although this isn't your typical vampire story it was well written and portrayed Laszlo's character exceptionally well. Despite the lack of the usual vampire gore that I was expecting this book still portrayed the obsessive, impulsive yet incredibly charming characteristics of the 'traditional' vampire. It is the Laszlo's of the world that we should be worried about not the fictitious Dracula types portrayed elsewhere.
