Great book, good characters

I like this book a lot. Alice's character was amazing and Harveys love for her was so deep. Very well written I just wish the ending would have included their talk before the decided to get back together.

The moving back and forth hurt the story quite a bit, especially in the audiobook. I found all the characters too annoying.

This story intrigues me. It's not often a writer consciously chooses to have a thoroughly awful protagonist, and it's even rarer to give said character cancer. It definitely allows for some interesting writing. But I think my issue here is I didn't like any of the characters, and when there's nothing to root for, there's no purpose to the story. Harvey was a puppet. Celeste and Jake were cliche bitches. Debora was bland. Heck, even Alice's mom was a cheater. If they all got cancer and died in the story, I'm not sure I would've cared.

Two cows. If the POV and time jumps hadn't been so random and badly placed, I'd given it three.

I'm torn. This is sort of the anti-Fault In Our Star book. I didn't really like Alice so I had a hard time connecting with the book. I admit I listened to it, and wasn't excited about the girl narrator. I will say I liked how the story wrapped itself up. 82

This book is awesome! Alice is super manipulative and the hold she has on Harvey is heartbreaking. Definitely pick this up if you’re looking for a good contemporary story about a toxic relationship based around terminal illness. I loved how the author made these characters seem so realistic. Their relationship was not perfect, and they definitely struggled through real life issues. I hated Alice throughout the majority of this book, but I understood her reasoning and motivations.

I found the alternating chapters between past and present to be a little annoying. I was really hoping that Harvey would have called it off with Alice for good at the end because I felt like she was still playing games and manipulating him. Overall, this was a very entertaining read and I would definitely recommend.

This book kind of reminded me of other books like: Fault In Our Stars and A Walk To Remember.

However, it just wasn't good enough to compare it to the other books.

I don't really know why but it probably has to deal with the MC, Alice, and how I just didn't like her. It's like she was okay with dying but not happy that she was in remission BECAUSE she just had to be with the guy who was falling for her. Like really? Uh sorry back up. Because in A Walk To Remember we all know she wanted to end up with the guy but couldn't because she was dying. We all know the the girl wanted to end up with the guy in Fault In Our Stars so what gives with this girl?

She just rubbed me the wrong way which breaks my heart because I've wanted to read this book for a long time. Now that I have I'm not sure I'm happy that I did.

Overall, it was okay. I expected a way better book with this kind of title. I expected more likable characters within this book. Overall, my expectations were really high and I'm kind of sad about that.
