This book is not just a romance story.

It's got topics such as sexism in the workplace, racism, physical and mental illness, makshift families, biological families and the conflict of disliking the things they do but loving them anyway, walking the path from friends with benefits to a relationship, forgiveness, becoming unwitting heroes, trust issues, finding a purpose in life, death and grieving, the unavoidable impact of internet on lives, the power of speaking up, and so much more.

The writing is good and fastpaced. The dialogues are impactful and enjoyable. No useless tags and prose to bog it down.

But somehow it was less than the sum of its parts.

I was expecting something that this book just couldn't deliver. And not for the fault of the author or anything. It was simply because of who the characters were.

On paper, Rhi seems so relatable, especially since I mentioned all the things above that she's dealing with and I'm sure almost every woman no matter what country she lives in, deals with too.

But I just couldn't emotionally connect with her, like I'd expect to in a romance novel, and I think it's because she wasn't emotionally available until like the last couple of chapters.

The book did end on a positive note and a hint at vulnerability, so that's a positive for Rhi and Samson's relationship, which probably controversial, but imho had very little chemistry.

Overall a decent book. But I think I'm going to take a break from romance for a while now haha.

This book did nothing for me I literally don't care.
"Romance" it's big let down and felt nothing towards characters.

Cutesy but had its very corny moments. Very predictable storyline - the usual romance trope.

Meh I didn’t really love the dynamic between the two characters...so it was hard for me to stick with the story. I also like a slow burn romance vs. jumping into a couple that already has a relationship...
