Don't know their podcast, no relation to their schtick. Just wasn't for me.

I saw a review one time that stated the person doesn’t like not giving 5 stars to memoirs because the story is about the person’s life and they don’t control what happened. I completely agree. This gets 5 stars (but it was also very good).
The audiobook of this one was wonderful. I love listening to My Favorite Murder and this novel is just like the beginning of the podcast before they get into the murders. There are some murders discussed and shoutouts to some cases that they have covered on the podcast.
Just like in the podcast, there is definitely foul language, but most of the time I didn’t even notice because I’m so used to it from their podcast. If I were reading the book physically, this might have annoyed me a little because it is unnecessary, but it is how they talk so it was easy to listen to. 😅
The stories of how they came to be the women they are and what happened to their “sweet baby Angel” selves were interesting. I felt like I already knew a lot of what they said just because I’ve been listening to them for so long, but there were still some new anecdotes I hadn’t yet heard.
I’m glad I finally picked this one up, even if it was only because my Goodreads challenge needed me to. I’ve had this physical book on my self since it came out and it was time to get it read.
Karen and Georgia have some hard and some insightful life lessons for readers (every does). It’s nice to see them shine after both struggling for so many years.
Audiobook length: 6.5 hours

Look, I love Karen and Georgia but omg I was not a fan of this book. I will just stick with the podcast.
This book of essays by Karen and Georgia feels like the written version of their podcast "My Favorite Murder". I enjoyed the lack of structure and the conversational tone of this book. There were definitely times when I laughed out loud!
Who doesn’t want to read a book with this title? I mean, I certainly want to stay sexy and NOT get murdered. I haven’t listening to their podcast (although that’s now next on my list) and I’m grateful Audible out this on their list of recommended listens. I loved their honesty, humbleness, self reflection and humor. And anyone who appropriately uses Fuck is always gonna be a favorite. The chapter on Fuck Politeness should be required reading for all girls and women. Also the clarity and reality of how everyone can be polite. But kindness, well that’s “dinner on the table.” And Georgia’s list of “holy shit” epiphanies from therapy is right on. Yes it is okay. Those two chapters alone, plus the inventors of hair dye, deserve a Nobel prize.

I laughed and cried my way through this book. All Murderinos will appreciate this deeper look into the minds and histories of our best friends, Karen and Georgia.
