I would have never thought an advice book written by two true crime comedy podcasters would be as good as that was. Karen and Georgia had both relevant and well thought out advice about thriving as a women in the world where we have to be scared to walk down the street.
Graphic: Addiction, Body shaming, Bullying, Cursing, Death, Drug abuse, Drug use, Eating disorder, Mental illness, Misogyny, Panic attacks/disorders, Pedophilia, Rape, Sexism, Sexual assault, Violence, Dementia, Kidnapping, Grief, Stalking, Death of parent, Murder, Gaslighting, Alcohol, Sexual harassment, Dysphoria
WOW. Wow wow wow. I am a huge fan of the MY FAVORITE MURDER podcast, and as such, I was super excited for the release of dual memoir/essay collection/feminist manifesto STAY SEXY, AND DON’T GET MURDERED. Familiar with Karen and Georgia’s riffs on the podcast, I figured I would enjoy this book—but I didn’t realize how wonderfully brilliant, polished, and thematic it would be. Some moments made me laugh, and some made me cry. Every word was meaningful. I cant wait to re-read this one.
Read this book, and, as always, SSDGM. 💀🖤

I enjoyed both the point of view and irreverent tone of this book. They made some wonderful points about growing up female in modern America. At times a trifle self-indulgent, but always interesting and engaging.

I finally know Georgia and Karen’s lore after hearing them make vague references to their lives in the MFM podcast! The audiobook is fun and had a cute surprise in the middle. There are some parts that take the “how to” guide too seriously, but ultimately I appreciated the life lessons. I wish Georgia would write more because I was surprised and impressed by her stories!
Moderate: Addiction, Alcoholism, Eating disorder, Dementia, Death of parent, Alcohol
A rather hilarious guide on what not to do as a woman out in the world, based on the personal experiences of this adorable pro-therapy, true crime podcasting duo.
